How many hours can a home carer work?

Our visiting care services start from as little as 30 minutes per week, with the flexibility to arrange multiple daily visits or even overnight care, depending on your needs. Typically, our visiting carers work an average of 20 hours per week, caring for various individuals within the local community. However, this may vary based on the carer’s availability and your specific requirements.

For Overnight Care the approach is slightly different. Overnight care is available as a sleep or awake night and normally for a period of 10 hours.

How much does care cost?

Our visiting care services are  £33.00 per hour, with flexible rates for shorter visits, such as 30 or 45-minute sessions. There are no hidden travel costs as we aim to have a straight forward price structure.

For overnight care, the nightly cost is based on the hourly rate and is usually minimum of 10 hours.

At Serenity Care Solent, we fully manage our carers, handling recruitment, training, pay, holiday arrangements, pension management and insurance. This ensures a hassle-free experience for you, unlike care agencies where you are responsible for employing and managing the carer yourself.

How much is Carer’s Allowance?

If you provide care for a loved one for at least 35 hours per week, you may be eligible for Carer’s Allowance. Only one person can claim this allowance for caring for the same individual, though you may still be eligible if you care for multiple people. Can a family member be a paid carer?

Yes, family members can become paid carers through Carer’s Allowance. They may also be entitled to National Insurance credits, as well as reductions on other financial support such as Council Tax, Universal Credit, or Pension Credits.

What training do home carers receive?

At Serenity Care Solent, our carers undergo a rigorous selection and training process. This includes both online based training and practical, hands-on training, plus shadowing an experienced carer during home visits. We also provide regular refresher courses and advanced training for carers who wish to specialize in certain areas of care.

Our in-house specialists conduct all training sessions, and we are proud to be recognized with a Centre of Excellence Award by Skills for Care for our outstanding training programs.

Can I arrange my own home care?

Yes, there are two options for arranging home care. The first is through an agency, where you are responsible for hiring and managing the carer, including payments, holidays, and arranging cover during absences and insurance.

Alternatively, with a fully managed and regulated service like Serenity Care Solent, we take care of all employment aspects, giving you peace of mind. We manage everything from recruitment to holiday cover, ensuring a seamless care experience for you.

Do you provide care in my area?

We provide care in the Solent area, which includes Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport, Fareham, Stubbington, Portchester, Titchfield, Locks Heath, Park Gate, Whiteley, Wickham and Warsash.

How quickly can care be started?

In most cases we are able to start providing care within 24 hours
