Serenity Care Solent provides flexible, CQC-regulated home care for adults across Gosport, Fareham and surrounding communities. Our services range from companionship and practical home help to personal care, dementia support, medication assistance, overnight care and help after hospital discharge. The right service is agreed after an assessment of the person’s needs, preferences, risks and desired outcomes.
● Rated Good by the Care Quality Commission
Families do not always know which service to request, and care needs rarely fit neatly into one label. A person may need personal care in the morning, medication support at lunchtime, help with meals and companionship later in the week. We therefore build support around the individual rather than asking them to choose a fixed package from a list.
The descriptions below explain what each service may include. Suitability depends on assessment, consent, risk, required skills, equipment, visit length, location and staffing capacity.
Nine services, grouped to make them easier to navigate. Every service begins with a free, no-obligation home assessment, and most people combine two or three.
Day-to-day help that keeps routines, dignity and independence intact.
Respectful assistance with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, continence needs and established personal routines. The plan records how the person wants support delivered, what they can do independently and any equipment or safer-working instructions carers must follow.
Visits can provide conversation, shared activities, hobbies, accompanied outings or support to see family and friends. Companionship can sit alongside personal or practical care and should reflect the person’s interests.
Carers can help prepare meals, shop for groceries and complete light tasks such as laundry, washing up, dusting and tidying. We follow recorded preferences, allergies and dietary instructions. Home help is not a specialist cleaning, maintenance or property-management service.
Support planned around a health condition, medication or mobility need.
Condition-led care is planned around the way a health condition affects daily life; it is not another name for overnight care. Support may include routines, communication, personal care, meals and agreed practical tasks. Dementia care focuses on familiarity, dignity and meaningful engagement. Carers follow the plan and report relevant changes; they do not diagnose conditions.
Medication support may range from reminders to administration, depending on the assessment, written instructions, consent, staff competency and Serenity’s medication policy. Carers cannot independently change doses, decide whether a prescribed medicine is needed or provide clinical advice. Questions about prescriptions or side effects should be referred to a pharmacist, prescriber, GP or NHS service.
We can provide agreed assistance with moving around the home, transfers and the use of suitable mobility aids where this has been assessed, documented and staff are trained. Carers do not prescribe equipment or provide physiotherapy. New mobility difficulties, repeated falls or unsafe transfers may require review by a GP, occupational therapist, physiotherapist or other clinician before care can continue safely.
Cover for a family carer, nights, or the weeks after a hospital stay.
Support after discharge may include personal care, meals, medication and agreed mobility assistance. Required discharge information, equipment and community clinical arrangements should be in place. Home care does not replace nursing treatment, wound care or rehabilitation.
Respite care provides planned temporary support for a family carer. Overnight care may be a sleeping or waking night. Live-in care places a carer in the home under agreed working and rest arrangements; it is not continuous one-to-one waking care for 24 hours. Each option requires assessment and confirmed availability.
Need care to start quickly?
We may be able to arrange care quickly when capacity, assessment and the person’s needs allow — but we cannot guarantee an immediate or same-day start. The fastest route is to call us and tell us what is happening.
Serenity is not an emergency medical service.
Two clear steps, with nothing agreed until you have it in writing.
A Care Manager completes a free, no-obligation assessment covering routines, goals, mobility, medication, nutrition, communication, health conditions, the home environment, preferred times and known risks. We also decide whether another professional needs to contribute.
If we can meet the need safely, we prepare a care plan, risk information, visit schedule and written quotation. Carers are matched by skills, location, availability and compatibility. Families receive contact arrangements and plans are reviewed when needs change and at scheduled intervals.

Our visiting care is available in flexible visit lengths, starting from a usual minimum of 30 minutes. We can also arrange 45-minute, 60-minute and longer visits according to the person’s assessed needs and the support required. Overnight and enhanced care arrangements are discussed separately.
Care may be paid for privately or supported through a local-authority assessment, personal budget or direct payment. NHS Continuing Healthcare or other NHS-funded arrangements may apply in certain circumstances, and eligible people may be able to claim Attendance Allowance.
Serenity does not assess financial eligibility and cannot promise funding, but we can direct families to Hampshire County Council, the NHS and GOV.UK for authoritative information.
We support Gosport and Fareham and the surrounding communities. Care is coordinated through Lee-on-the-Solent, Fareham and Royal Haslar. Contact us with the postcode and preferred times to confirm coverage.
The assessment considers what the person can do, where support is needed, how long tasks take and whether timing is important. We will not knowingly plan a visit that is too short to deliver safely.
Often, yes. A visit might combine personal care, medication and breakfast preparation if the assessment shows the tasks can be completed safely within the agreed time.
Carers complete recruitment checks, including DBS checks, and relevant training. Particular delegated or higher-risk tasks require additional competency assessment. A care worker is not a nurse or clinician.
We aim for familiar carers, but cannot guarantee one person for every visit because of leave, sickness and changing needs. We plan a small, suitable care team wherever possible.
This depends on urgency, assessment, location, visit times, complexity and staffing capacity. We will give an honest indication after the initial conversation and will not promise a start date until safe arrangements are confirmed.
We will discuss the change and may contact the agreed representative or relevant professional. Some needs require a GP, community nurse, pharmacist, therapist or another specialist provider. Immediate medical emergencies must be directed to 999.
Call or email us to discuss care in Gosport, Fareham or the surrounding area. We can explain suitable options, confirm whether we cover the postcode and arrange a free home assessment where appropriate. One clear conversation is the next step; there is no obligation to proceed.
